Anela Nikčević-Milković, PhD

She was born in 1970 in Osijek, where she finished primary and secondary school. She completed her studies in psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy University of Zagreb in 1996. 1993/1994 spent in Los Angeles, USA, where was learning English. In 1995 she was a participant in the Psychological Summer School on the Krk island, Croatia. From 1997 to 2001 she worked as a psychologist at the Gospić Social Welfare Center and then completed two levels of Behavioral-Cognitive Therapy in Rijeka and passed the professional exam for independent work of psychologists at the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. Since 2001 she has been employed at the Teacher Training College in Gospić (today: Department of Teacher Education in Gospić), first as a lecturer, since 2005 as a senior lecturer, since 2015 as an assistant professor, and since 2021 as an associate professor. In 2008 she received her master's degree with the topic Cognitive and metacognitive processes in writing in students of lower and higher years of study, and in 2012 she received her doctorate in non-doctoral studies with the topic Self-regulation of learning in writing at the Faculty of Philosophy University of Zagreb. She teaches a series of courses: Introduction to Developmental Psychology, Child Psychology, Learning Psychology, Teaching Psychology, Selected Chapters in Cognitive Psychology, Social Skills Training, Emotional Intelligence, Violence Against and Among Children, Family and Parenting Psychology, Gifted Education, Partnership with parents, Psychology of Communication and Research Methodology in Education, Working with Children with Developmental Disabilities. She participated in the development and modification of the program in accordance with the Bologna Process and the guidelines of the ECTS system and introduced two new courses. At the postgraduate scientific study Society of Knowledge and Information Transfer of the University of Zadar, from 2015 until today she is a teacher in the course Psychological, social and cultural determinants of literacy within the module Information needs and reading interests and habits. At the professional study of the Nikola Tesla Polytechnic, she taught the course Interpersonal Communication. Since 2020 she has been a lecturer in the course Pedagogical Psychology at the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature in Cetinje, Montenegro.

Her main scientific interest is focused on self-regulation of learning and self-regulation of learning in the field of reading and writing. Therefore, today she is an associate on the institutional research project of the University of Zadar, which deals with self-regulation of teacher learning. It is also focused on the topics of education of gifted students, inclusive education, prevention of violence against and among children and youth, application of IT technology in education, emotional and multicultural literacy in schools and prevention of behavioral problems in children and youth. Within these topics, he publishes scientific and professional papers, author's books and book chapters, presents at scientific-professional conferences in the country and abroad, county expert councils, round tables, forums and appears in the media. More times she was an invited lecturer at scientific and professional conferences. She was a mentor in 64 diploma and 2 doctoral theses. He encourages students to take active presentations by participating in scientific-professional conferences and publishes scientific and professional papers with them. She has collaborated on 5 scientific projects and is the holder of a number of activities to popularize science. She was the president / member of many program and organizational committees of scientific-professional conferences. She is the editor-in-chief of several collections of papers and booklets of abstracts from scientific-professional conferences of Days of Šime and Ante Starčević. She has been a member of the editorial board of The Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology (TOJET) since 2018 and has briefly been a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Global Education and Research (JGER) in the USA. In 2016, she was a visiting scientist at the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature in Cetinje, Montenegro. She has reviewed manuals, book chapters, and a large number of articles for various scientific journals and proceedings. She reviewed the Educational and Socializing Goals and Contents of the HNOS in 2005 as a member of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and a number of professional projects of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and the Ministry of Social Policy and Youth. As an external independent evaluator, she evaluated a number of projects funded by EU funds from 2017 to 2019.

She is a member of the Senate of the University of Zadar from 2017 to 2025. At the department in Gospić, she is the president of the Alumni Club of the University of Zadar, she is a mentor to assistants in the social sciences, and has been the President of the Classification Exam Committee. From 2017 to 2024 she was the vice president of the School Board of the Elementary School of Dr. Jure Turić in Gospić, and from 2019 to 2023 she was a member of the Home Committee of the Student Home A. G. Matoš in Zagreb. She was the head of the Commission for Quality Improvement of four years and its member three years. She was the head of the Department of Teacher Education in Gospić, Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Rijeka 2010/2011; 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 she was the head of the Department of Teacher Education in Gospić, University of Zadar. In 2013 and 2014, she was the President and Vice President of the Governing Board of the Nikola Tesla Polytechnic in Gospić. Within the Center for Psychosocial Assistance of Lika-Senj County at the Ministry of Croatian Veterans, she is active in a number of professional psychologists, and from 2021 to 2024 she was appointed chief psychologist in the Commission for Victims of Sexual Violence. From 2001 to 2010, the Gospić County Court appointed her as a certified forensic psychology expert. In 2017 she led the national project Examination and Analysis of the Situation in the System of Providing Psychosocial Assistance to Croatian Homeland War Veterans and Members of Their Families at the Ministry of Croatian Veterans (funded by the EU Fund), within which she prepared two national expert studies. From time to time, she is an external associate of the Gospić Social Welfare Center as the head of the measure of supervision over parental care and increased care and supervision.

She has led / participated in over twenty professional projects related to the prevention of violence and addiction, human rights education, cooperation between schools and parents, the introduction of civic education in schools, prevention of violence in youth relationships. At the Student Counseling Center of the University of Zadar, she conducted workshops for students on the topic of Prevention of Violence in Youth Relationships. She is the recipient of the UNICEF and the Agency for Education Award for outstanding contribution and long-term work on prevention and intervention against violence among children and youth in 2011. She is a member of the Croatian Psychological Society and the Croatian Psychological Chamber.
