Biography

Jadranka Brkić-Vejmelka

Jadranka Brkić-Vejmelka is an associate professor at the Department of Teacher Education Studies in Gospić at the University of Zadar. She graduated Geography in 1983, on the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science in Zagreb where she also finished PhD (in 2013). She worked as a teacher of Geography in primary schools and as a teacher of Tourism Geography, Geography and Basics of Tourism in secondary vocational school. From 1992. to 2016. she was a headmaster of the Vocational school for Tourism and Catering in Zadar.

From 1996. she was working as a associate teacher on the University of Zadar (on the Department of Geography, Deaprtment of Tourism and Communications Sciences and on the Department of Teachers and Preschool Teachers Education. Since 2016. she works at the Department of Teacher Education Studies in Gospić at the University of Zadar teaching Geography, Methodics of Natural and Social Sciences 2, Methodics of Natural and Social Sciences 3, Natural Haritage valorization in Tourism, Outdoor teaching. On the Department of Geography she is teaching Tourism Geography and Tourism and Spatial resources in Croatia. On the Deaprtment of Tourism and Communications Sciences she is teaching Tourism geography. She is a collaborator on two Erasmus+ projects: DIGIT Clue – digital inclusion and Students Civic Engagement European project.

As a member of Croatian Geographical Society - Zadar she was a vicepresident (1995. - 2011.) and a member of Supervisory Comitee (2011.-2018.). For the distinguish work with pupils in schools, she was awarded Federik Grisogono prize of the Croatian Geographical Society - Zadar. From 2018. she is a president of Croatian geographical Society – Zadar.
